The first week of
the trip - Visits
During the first
week of the trip, we visited universities and research institutes in Bonn,
Frankfurt, Heidelberg and Tübingen. The first stop was Bonn, where we visited
the Institute of Immunology at the University Hospital of Bonn and the
headquarters of the German Research Foundation (DFG), where the staff of the
DFG introduced the German research system and the funding situation, and explained
the relevant programs and the application situation.
The second stop was
Frankfurt, where we visited the Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (EXC)
Frankfurt-Giessen and learned about many hot research topics. The person in
charge also introduced us to the current requirements for postdoctoral
researchers and the treatment offered by the institute.
The third stop was
Heidelberg, where the teacher in charge took us to visit the German Cancer
Research Center DKFZ in Heidelberg and the laboratory equipment including mass
spectrometry, flow cytometry, microscope and other equipment.
The last stop was to
Tübingen, where we visited the Exzellenzcluster ?Kontrolle von Mikroorganismen
zur Bek?mpfung von Infektionen“ CMFI, the Hertie Institute for Clinical Brain
Research, and the Institute for Image Guidance and Functional Instruction
(IFIT) in Tübingen. The staff introduced us to the research and toured the
imaging platforms owned by IFIT. The exchanges with students and professors
from these institutions broadened our international horizons, and our
understanding of the research priorities and directions of international
advanced laboratories also gave us some inspiration for our future research
work.
Week 2 of the trip -
72nd Annual Nobel Laureates Conference in Lindau, Germany
I am honored to be
chosen as this year's participant for the Nobel Laureates Conference 2023 in
Lindau. This trip is an unforgettable journey, and I feel the passion and
cohesion of these outstanding Nobel Laureates, who have inspired me with their
sharing of their wonderful experiences, exciting research results, and positive
attitudes towards life. Through the conversation with Prof. Jean-Marie Lehn, I
learned that he is not only excellent in research, but also in the field of
music, painting and other artistic fields. During the conversation, he
encouraged us that research is not something that can be done overnight, and
that there are two secrets to success: the first is to focus on one research
direction, and the second is to pay attention to the unintended results of the
experiments. During the conference, I also had the opportunity to chat with
young scientists from many countries about research issues and interesting life
stories, which was a rare opportunity and had a deep impact on me.
